The peaceful country life on Robinson Road provided a good counterbalance to a professional life that was very demanding and accomplished.

Pettit was asked if her sister realized how profoundly her life and work had affected others.
"She knew that people were very interested in her program for acquired brain injury," Pettit said, "but I don't think anyone ever realizes how much they're loved."
Even at the end, Dr. Gillett continued to talk about the work there still was to be done.
"She had so much more she still wanted to do," Pettit said. "And all of a sudden, she didn't have time."
